Three housing projects are featured in this episode. In Holland, neighbors worked with a developer to plan a townhouse project that includes solar shingles. A number of neighborhood partners collaborated in the Stevens Square Community to develop an affordable housing project called Lofts on Arts Avenue. The Powderhorn Park neighborhood worked with the Urban League to develop six units of public housing, the Urban Garden Townhomes. This episode also includes reports on two Fall Festivals, one in the Cedar Isles Dean neighborhood and one in Standish-Ericsson. Length: 29:50. November 2002. NRP Affordable Housing funds provided one million dollars to help build Phase II of the Jeremiah Project, a second building for an assisted living program that works with single mothers and their children. Episode #68 features a segment on the groundbreaking for that building. Also included are segments about the groundbreaking for a new Pierre Bottineau library in Northeast Minneapolis, on the Longfellow Street Fest, the Greenway Parade of Arts, and the grand opening for rehabilitated historic restrooms at Lake Harriet, a project called "Spiff the Biffs." On program #67 you'll see a segment about housing improvements that were made to a home in the Logan Park neighborhood through the Rebuilding Together Program. The show also features a look at the Hot Autumn Jazz Festival and multi-neighborhood clean-up efforts on two Minneapolis corridors, Lyndale Avenue South and E. Lake Street. In addition, the program includes a segment on the positive impact that NRP-funded improvements have had on Franklin Avenue in the Seward neighborhood. Length: 29:30. July 2002. Show #66 features segments on the South Minneapolis Housing and Home Improvement Fair as well as visits to two houses featured in the Minneapolis Saint Paul Home Tour, one in the Bottineau neighborhood and one in the Marcy Holmes Neighborhood. Also included are segments on a multi-neighborhood planning effort for Marshall Street, and a look at the grand re-opening of the Linden Hills neighborhood library after improvements made possible in part by that neighborhood's NRP funding. The first two segments of this episode take place in the Field Regina Northrop neighborhood. The Neighborhood group celebrates the installation of pedestrian-level streetlights and business owners talk about their work improving the intersection of 48th and Chicago through the NRP. A segment on the Saturnalia celebration in Bryn Mawr follows, along with a segment on an NRP Diversity Workshop. The final segment documents the grand opening of Shingle Creek Commons, a senior housing development in the northwest corner of Minneapolis partly funded by NRP contributions from the surrounding neighborhoods.
