Public Meetings Set for Discussion of Community Engagement Report

December 15, 2006 - The NRP Policy Board and the Minneapolis City Council have called for public discussion of the Community Engagement Report submitted by the City Coordinator on November 9, 2006. As a result, the offices of the NRP and the City Coordinator are working together to conduct a series of public meetings and a community survey. The previously announced deadline for public comment on the report has been extended until Thursday, February 8, 2007.

Public meetings are scheduled for the end of January and early February, at locations selected to encourage attendance by a broad cross-section of community members. Please note that language interpreters will be at the meetings on January 30, February 1 and February 5.

The dates, times and locations - and the names of nearby neighborhoods - are as follows:

Monday, January 29th - West (Harrison, Bryn-Mawr, Kenwood, Lowry Hill, Cedar-Isles-Dean, East Isles, Lowry Hill East, Whittier and Stevens Square
Location: Van Dusen Conference Center - 1900 La Salle Ave. S
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Monday, January 29th - Southwest (Windom, Kenny, Armatage, Tangletown, Lynnhurst, Fulton, Linden Hills, East Harriet, King Field, Lyndale, CARAG, ECCO, West Calhoun)
Location: Burroughs School - 1601 W. 50th St.
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Tuesday, January 30th - South Central - (Bancroft, Bryant, Central, Powderhorn Park, Corcoran, Phillips West, Midtown Phillips, Phillips East, Seward, Longfellow, Cooper)
Location: Plaza Verde - 1516 E. Lake St.
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m. (Interpreters for Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Vietnamese, Lao and Oromo languages will be available)

Tuesday, January 30th - South (Howe, Hiawatha, Standish, Ericsson, Regina, Northrop, Field, Page, Hale, Diamond Lake, Keewaydin, Minnehaha, Wenonah, Morris Park)

Wednesday, January 31st - Southeast (Prospect Park, University, Marcy Holmes, Como, Nicollet Island/East Bank, St. Anthony West, St. Anthony East, Beltrami)
Location: Marcy Open School - 415 4th Ave. SE
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, January 31st - Northeast (Northeast Park, Logan Park, Sheridan, Bottineau, Holland, Audubon Park, Marshall Terrace, Columbia Park, Waite Park, Windom Park)
Location: Firefighters Hall and Museum - 664 - 22nd Ave. NE
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Thursday, February 1st - North (Sumner-Glenwood, Near North, Willard-Hay, Hawthorne, Jordan, Folwell, Cleveland, McKinley, Victory, Webber-Camden, Shingle Creek, Lind-Bohanon)
Location: North Regional Library - 1315 Lowry Ave. N

Monday February 5th - Central City (North Loop, Downtown East, Downtown West, Cedar Riverside, Ventura Village, Elliot Park, Loring Park)
Location: Mill City Museum - 704 S. 2nd St.
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m. (Interpreters for Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Vietnamese, Lao and Oromo languages will be available)

PLEASE NOTE: RESIDENTS CAN ATTEND WHATEVER SESSION IS MOST CONVENIENT FOR THEIR SCHEDULE -- NEIGHBORHOODS ARE IDENTIFIED WITH LOCATIONS IN THE LIST ABOVE PRIMARILY TO ASSURE AN EVEN GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF LOCATIONS.
