2005 Neighborhood Household Hazardous Waste Events

June 2, 2005 - Minneapolis neighborhoods and NRP are once again joining with Hennepin County Department of Environmental Services to host 13 Minneapolis Household Hazardous Waste Collection events during the summer of 2005. The materials listed are accepted from individual households/apts/condos only. Businesses (including management/maintenance staff from apartments/condominiums, non-profits, schools, neighborhood and community groups, churches, etc.) must manage their hazardous and problem wastes separately. Businesses call 612-348-3777.

Transportation Guidelines
Containers must be 5 gallons or less in size
Place wastes upright in a plastic lined cardboard box
Arrange and secure wastes so they do not tip
Proof of residency is required, please bring your driver's license.

aerosols (pressurized or containing product)
auto wastes (fuel additives, starter fluid, waxes, but no motor oil)
cleaning solvents
corrosives
drain cleaners
driveway sealers
flammable liquids
fuels (gasoline, kerosene, diesel)
fluorescent and HID lamps
household batteries (AA, C, D, rechargeable, etc.)
lead based paint chips
mercury items (thermometers, thermostats, etc.)
rechargeable appliances (cordless tools, weed whips, etc.)
paints, paint stripper, stains, varnishes, thinners
pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, etc.)
photographic and hobby chemicals
wood preservatives
pool chemicals

oil (cutting, lubricating, etc.) (see note 1, below)
oil filters/motor oil (see note 1, below)
radioactive wastes
recyclables (cardboard, glass, metal, paper, phone books, plastic, etc.) (see note 1, below)

yard waste
