The City of Minneapolis is requesting proposals for the redevelopment of the Nicollet Hotel Block. The former site of a historic hotel, this block is considered the gateway to Downtown Minneapolis. The block borders the emerging Minneapolis Central Public Library and is located on two landmark arterials: Nicollet Mall and Hennepin Avenue. The new Hiawatha Light Rail line runs two blocks away.
Development objectives call for a mixed-use transit oriented project that will include a publicly funded underground transit terminal, up to 300 units of rental or ownership housing, structured residential parking and convenience retail.
A pre-proposal conference is scheduled for early September. Attendance is encouraged to learn more about the city's development efforts and to participate in a question and answer period about this project.
Proposals are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.
