The South Minneapolis Housing and Home Improvement Fair is celebrating its ninth year as one of the most successful and well-attended community events in the South Minneapolis area. The Fair, which is free and open to the public, promotes city living, home improvement and maintenance and community involvement. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at South High School, 3131 19th Ave. S. The Fair consists of educational workshops on home improvement, and home purchasing and refinancing. Typical workshop topics include: how to work with contractors, landscaping and lawn care, plumbing, preparing your home for sale, window solutions, how to get a mortgage loan, refinancing, and much more.
Over 90 reputable contractors, real estate agents, lenders and community organizations exhibit at the Fair. Attendees have access to area contractors and handymen, bank lenders, and representatives from their neighborhood associations.
The Fair is a family event, and special parent/child woodcraft workshops are offered. Other attractions include hourly door prize drawings and three grand prizes. Hungry? Check out the Taste of the Neighborhood featuring a variety of foods and refreshments from local restaurants.
