For more than 50 years, the City of Minneapolis has
been reshaped and revitalized by its community development efforts, which have included housing, new business
development, and job growth, as well as neighborhood safety and character. Today, new financial realities challenge the
City's community development programs including the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) and the
Minneapolis Community Development Agency (MCDA). The Mayor, City Council and the people of Minneapolis need to
reassess the City's spending priorities and revisit the role of community development. Attend a community meeting
reviewing Minneapolis' community development efforts and current challenges. Establish a foundation of facts and
begin this important dialogue.
